Family Promise Space Coast mourns the passing of Richard “Lovi” Lovisone, whose determination and leadership were instrumental in bringing Family Promise to life in our community.
Lovi became Board President at a pivotal moment. He understood that the organization had reached a crossroads, if Family Promise was going to launch, the time was now.
Lovi hired our Executive Director, Tara Pagliarini, and then helped move the organization from years of planning into action. His persistence, urgency, and willingness to keep pushing were critical in getting Family Promise off the ground.
Those who knew Lovi knew that he did not back down easily. He was fiercely passionate about families experiencing homelessness and simply could not accept the idea of a family with children living in the rough when a community had the ability to do something about it.
That conviction never left him.

Even as Family Promise grew and evolved, Lovi remained connected to the mission and deeply invested in the families we served. Right up until his passing, he continued to care about whether families were safe, whether children had a place to sleep, and whether our community was doing enough.
His determination helped build the foundation on which Family Promise Space Coast stands today. Thousands of families have been touched by an organization that exists, in part, because Lovi understood that sometimes there is a moment when you simply have to act.
We extend our love and deepest sympathies to Dottie, their children, and the entire Lovisone family. We are profoundly grateful for Lovi’s leadership, his courage, and his lasting commitment to ensuring families in our community have a safe place to call home.
Those who knew and loved Lovi are invited to join his family for a Celebration of Life on Saturday, October 10, from 3:00–5:00 p.m. at Indian River Colony Club, 1936 Freedom Dr., Melbourne, FL 32940.
In lieu of flowers, Lovi’s family has asked that memorial gifts be made to Family Promise Space Coast, continuing the work that meant so much to him and honoring his lifelong commitment to families in our community.
Lovi believed that families deserved better, and he believed our community could make that possible.
Today, that work continues. From providing families with a safe place to stay, to helping parents find stability and giving children the opportunity to thrive, Family Promise Space Coast remains committed to the vision that Lovi helped bring to life.
Thank you for being part of that work and for helping us continue the mission Lovi cared so deeply about.
With gratitude,
The Family Promise Space Coast Team

When a car breaks down, the impact can reach far beyond the inconvenience of being without a vehicle. For one Family Promise Space Coast client, a broken-down car affected her ability to get to work, support her family, manage her responsibilities, and simply move through everyday life.

“It was more than an inconvenience; it was a heavy weight that made even the simplest tasks feel out of reach,” she shared.

Thanks to generous donors, her car was repaired, and with it came a renewed sense of independence and stability.

“I can get to work on time, keep my commitments, and navigate my days without the constant stress of wondering how I would get from place to place.”

The impact of that support was immediate and deeply meaningful. As she put it, “You didn’t just help fix a vehicle—you helped restore stability, dignity, and peace of mind.”

Perhaps most importantly, the experience reminded her that she wasn’t alone.

“Your support reminded me that community still exists, and that people are willing to show up for one another in real and tangible ways.”

Thank you to the donors who made this possible. Your generosity helps families navigate unexpected challenges, overcome barriers, and build toward a more stable future.
Elevating Opportunities

We’re celebrating a beautiful example of what can happen when our community comes together!
Guy and Delores Spearman recently made a transformative $52,500 gift to support Cocoa High School students through scholarships. The gift was inspired by connections made through Family Promise Space Coast and Elevate Brevard, whose partnership is helping create stronger pathways for local students to thrive.
We’re grateful to be part of a community that believes in investing in our families and our children’s futures!

Convening Community

What started as a senior year passion project has officially come full circle! Holy Trinity senior Chloe recently wrapped up her welcome home basket drive, delivering 30 baskets to Family Promise Space Coast, 25 for children and 5 for teenagers transitioning from our shelter program into their own stable homes.
Through her project, Chloe raised approximately $4,000, with each basket averaging about $130 in items. She thoughtfully made sure every basket included the essentials to help a child feel at home in their new space, including a rug, lamp, alarm clock, bedding, laundry basket, and a stuffy or blanket.
Chloe shared that she had a wonderful time collecting the items and shopping for each basket, making sure every one had everything it needed. Now, some of her fellow Holy Trinity juniors are already considering taking on the project as part of their own senior year passion projects.
Thank you, Chloe, for turning your passion into a project that will help children and teens feel welcomed, cared for, and at home as they begin their next chapter.

Our Executive Director, Tara Pagliarini, recently joined leaders from Family Promise Affiliates across the country in Denver for the Family Promise National Enterprise Roundtable.
The two-day gathering brought together leaders from some of Family Promise’s larger, established Affiliates for peer connection, professional development, and shared learning. The group meets regularly to exchange ideas, tackle challenges, and explore innovative approaches to preventing family homelessness and expanding shelter and support in their communities.
We’re grateful for opportunities like this that allow our leadership team to continue learning, growing, and bringing new ideas back to the Space Coast. When Affiliates grow stronger, families and communities benefit.
